MOTORING LAW

At some point in our lives, many of us may fall foul of road traffic law and commit a motoring offence. The consequences can range from fines and penalty points to disqualification from driving, which can have a significant impact on your personal and professional life.

Appointing a solicitor to present your case can make a real difference—especially if you are facing potential disqualification or the loss of your licence. Our expert team of lawyers has extensive experience in motoring law and can help you prepare and present your case in the strongest possible way, giving you the best chance of a favourable outcome.

We have a proven track record of helping clients retain their licences and navigate the complexities of motoring offences, combining legal expertise with practical advice.

Our Services

We provide comprehensive advice and representation for a wide range of motoring offences, including but not limited to:

  • Points accumulation (‘totting’)

  • Exceptional hardship applications

  • Drink and drug driving

  • Speeding offences

  • Failing to stop and report an accident

  • Notice of Intended Prosecutions (s.172 Road Traffic Act 1988)

Recent Successes

  • R v RI-C: A newly qualified driver faced in excess of six points for travelling at 73 mph in a 30 mph zone, which could have led to their licence being revoked and having to apply for their provisional licence and undertaking the theory and practical test again. Our team successfully persuaded the Magistrates to impose a short disqualification instead, allowing the client to retain their licence.

  • R v EM: An HGV driver was charged with multiple offences after their cargo and cab tipped over at a roundabout. Through careful preparation, we secured a plea to a single non-imprisonable offence with no penalty points being imposed, enabling the client to continue working without losing their licence.

  • R v ME: Successfully defended a client facing prosecution for failing to provide driver details. Despite the risk of 27 penalty points, we demonstrated exceptional hardship through strong evidence and advocacy. Our work enabled the client—a garage owner—to keep his licence, maintain his employment, support his family, and preserve contact with his children.
